IFAC Conference on Control of Industrial Systems - CIS '97, Belfort (France). 20-22 May 1997
Summary:
Technical and economic reasons, as well as political decisions, are pushing for the restructuring and introduction of competition in the electricity industry. In this framework, new technical challenges arise, concerning power system planning and operation. Artificial intelligence can provide efficient solutions for some of these new problems: improved modelling of uncertainty, accurate on-line security assessment, customer modelling and control, decision-support systems for trading operations, etc.
